Hastelloy C4 ASTM B619 B622 B626 N06455 N06455 Nickel alloy is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with outstanding high-temperature stability as evidenced by high ductility and corrosion resistance even after aging in the 1200 to 1900°F (649 to 1038°C) range. This alloy resists the formation of grain-boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone, thus making it suitable for most chemical process applications in the as welded condition. C-4 alloy also has excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking and to oxidizing atmospheres up to 1900°F (1038°C).

Hastelloy C4 ASTM B619 B622 B626 N06455 N06455 Nickel alloy has exceptional resistance to wide variety of chemical process environments. These include hot contaminated mineral acids, solvents, chlorine nd chlorine contaminated media (organic and inorganic), dry chlorine, formic acid and acetic acid, acetic anhydride, and seawater and brine solutions.

Hastelloy C4 ASTM B619 B622 B626 N06455 N06455 Nickel alloy can be forged, hot-upset, and impact extruded. Although the alloy tends to work-harden, it can be successfully deep-drawn, spun, press formed or punched. All of the common methods of welding can be used to weld Hastelloy C4 ASTM B619 B622 B626 N06455 N06455 alloy, although the oxy-acetylene and submerged arc processes are not recommended when the fabricated item is intended for use in corrosion service. Special precautions should be taken to avoid excessive heat input.

This alloy is used to manufacture chemical process equipment, especially for process use at high temperatures where stainless steel do not have adequate strength and/or corrosion resistance.

Machinability
Machinable by conventional techniques.

Forming
Readily formed by conventional methods.

Welding
All of the common methods of welding apply to this alloy. However excessive heat input should be avoided and submerged arc or oxy-acetylene welding should not be used as they can degrade corrosion resistance.

Heat Treatment
Solution annealed at 1950 F and rapid quench. This is the normal condition in which product forms are supplied.
Forging
The alloy can be hot forged at temperatures of 2150 F to 1750 F.

Hot Working
Can be hot worked or hot extruded similar to stainless steels.

Cold Working
Readily cold worked by conventional means.

Annealing
Solution anneal at 1950 F followed by rapid quench.

Aging
May be aged (after solution heat treatment) at 1200 F for 10 hours to somewhat improve ductility and yield strength without adversely affecting the ultimate tensile strength.

Hardening
Hardened by cold working only, but normally used in the solution annealed condition .
