316LVM Bar UNS S31673 DIN X2CrNiMo18-15-3 ASTM F138 Stainless Steel Round Bar
316LVM is a vacuum remelted, molybdenum alloyed, austenitic stainless steel.
The grade is characterized by:
316LS / 316LVM surgical steels are electroslag remelted (ESR) or vacuum arc remelted (VAR), low carbon, high nickel and molybdenum versions of 316 stainless steel. A second high-quality melting step improves cleanliness. Chemical modification is designed to maximize the alloy's corrosion resistance and provide a ferrite-free microstructure. The alloy is non-magnetic even after a rigorous cold forming operation

316L VM stainless steel, commonly referred to as surgical grade or implant grade stainless steel, is the most commonly used medical stainless steel for sale. Decomposition name, this is a low-carbon version of 316, which has been remelted by electroslag or vacuum arc to reduce impurities.
Compared with ordinary stainless steel, this process can remove impurities and help to form a more effective chromium oxide layer on the surface of the material. This layer helps to keep the nickel in the rod, preventing it from triggering an allergic reaction. This protective surface also increases the time that the implant can remain in the body without penetrating the surrounding tissue.
